CARRIE

Original title: CARRIE (2026)

RUNNING TIME: 162 minutes.

I watched this series over a few evenings.
It was enjoyable, but it doesn't compare to the original 1976 movie.
What really bothered me were the music overdubs that made no sense and were constantly layered over the scenes.
This version is a TV-to-movie adaptation with a 2.40 aspect ratio, and it drastically changes the music selection.
I'll also cut a significant amount of unnecessary content, as some scenes occasionally border on the comical and ridiculous.
This adaptation will adopt a more serious tone.
It will feature music by Pino Donaggio from the original film, as well as compositions by other artists.

Main changes in this version:

Margaret White is portrayed simply as a cleaning lady.
There are no scenes of her working as a cashier or facing any problems at work.
Margaret White’s visit to the school occurs after Carrie is humiliated in the shower, so all dialogue regarding the earlier visit after the fire drill has been removed.
In the original, Carrie is invited to a party in the third episode, but that aspect is not included here.
I only use the party very briefly, primarily because I have Chris meeting Billy Nolan there.
Carrie has been completely removed from that party, and all footage of her that was filmed there, which later appeared on Chris's phone and others’, is gone.
There is no pregnancy test of Sue; all related scenes have been cut.
Emaline, Carrie’s blonde sidekick, appears in only one scene as a student at the school.
Everything about her is removed; she is simply seen in the cafeteria when Carrie breaks Chris’s nose, with no other interaction between Evaline and Carrie.
The Mother installing hidden cameras in the house is not in this cut.
So all the shit related to that is gone.
The prom massacre is edited precisely as depicted in De Palma’s original film, so all the absurd elements, namely those astral bitches have been eliminated.
